Bali Rice Paddy Reflection

Rice Paddy Near Ubud, Bali

Still jet-lagged on my first day in Bali, something made me make the walk into town from my friend’s house.  It’s hot and humid compared to what my body is acclimated to and it’s about three miles into town.  Normally easy, today… not so much.

Along the road I passed this classic Bali scenery.  There are rice field and terraces everywhere you go on the island.  This one had just been planted so it looks just like a pond.  However, today, following a nice massage I was walking back and passed it again.  This time, only two days later, the rice plants have emerged and are about 4 inches above the water in neat little rows.  Sorry I don’t have that shot to post here also.  It’s still in my camera.  Just after taking it I stopped at the Fly Cafe for a large Bintang beer, hummus & pita bread and a large Greek salad.  I’ve sort of adopted this place as my internet cafe since they have free wi-fi and I’m able to answer my emails and do this post while a lazy Sunday afternoon in Bali passes by slowly outside.
